Born June 8, 1955, Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee is a British engineer, computer scientist and MIT professor credited with inventing the World Wide Web. (He also coined the term World Wide Web.) His paper, Information Management: A Proposal, detailing how the Web would operate, was published in March 1989. The first client-server HTTP communication via the Internet was sent on December 25, 1990.
